Something Borrowed

The book was a traditional chicklit!
Very cutesy and funny in parts, nothing over the top!
Although there was one pretty big surprise in the end ;)
I did my best to steer clear of the movie trailers
until I developed how I thought the characters looked,
but halfway through the book I saw the trailer
and I have to admit,
 the characters they picked to play
Dex, Rachel and Darcy
 were pretty darn close to how I pictured them!

There were a few subtle changes they made in the movie,
they replaced Rachel's coworker/friend
with her good friend Ethan,
who in the book lives in London.
I personally preferred that
because Ethan's character was hilarious!

It doesn't seem like this movie got the best reviews
(like most dramatic comedies)
and might be making an exit from the theaters
after this week,
but I was happy to see if and get a few laughs :)
I think it makes one of those great
curl up on a couch with your girl friends
or a date night in with the hubs (when it's your pick ;)
so if you didn't get a chance to see it in the theater,
make sure to Redbox it or get it on Netflix
when it makes it's DVD/Blu-Ray debut!

***,
Erica

Star rating:
***** = MUST SEE
**** = Too good to miss
*** = Like it
** = Just wait for DVD/Blu-Ray
* = don't waste your time seeing it at all

Books & Beauty begins...

This blog is going to focus on my
love for reading great books
and my love for beauty trends!
I figure there has to be a balance in life
and these two go well together ;}

I am in a book club with a few girlfriends
and I tried to get them to adopt the name,
but it was no go :(
So, I decided to use it for the blog!

Each month we pick a new book to read
and I will share the pick
if you would like to read along :)
It would also be great to get feedback
from those that have read it!

After I read it,
I will give my take on the book too :}

In between reviewing books
I will be adding a few beauty tips and trends
along the way!!

So this months book is...
Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin
We liked the idea of this book,
since my friends and I
are on the brink of turning 30 this year
and coincidentally,
the book begins on the main character's 30th birthday.

Now you may be thinking,
oh all she reads are "chick lit" books,
but not true,
we just got done reading "Water for Elephants"
if you want to catch up on that!

A lot of times,
 we like to read books that are going to become movies,
because then it gives a good excuse
for a "girls night" to go see the movie ;}

So, I hope you join me in this months read,
"Something Borrowed"
by Emily Giffin
{In theaters May 2011}

Happy reading,
Erica
